Coach Shibs’ Philosophy:
I need to love both coaching and serving others to consistently provide elite training - and keep making my programs and coaching better.
PASSION
In my coaching role, I always need to serve as the example of drive, focus, effort, and intent I expect of my athletes. “It starts at the top”.
LEADERSHIP
I need to first gain trust from the athlete - holding myself accountable to provide the same enthusiasm, focus, and energy every session so they believe I will help them improve in their sport.
RELATIONSHIPS
I need to understand the athlete’s given sport(s), study common injuries and provide a training plan related to the type of strength/power, movement skills, and conditioning they will exhibit on the field.
SPORT DEMANDS
I believe to develop fast, explosive, and agile athletes you need to train acceleration, deceleration, top-end speed, and multidirectional movement skills year-round (to different extents depending on whether in- or off-season).
“SPEED KILLS”
CREATE COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENTS
I will create a training environment that increases and athlete’s competitive drive (focus, physical effort, and determination to succeed); preparing them for intense, pressure-filled scenarios they will experience on the court/field.
